Excuse me...

EXCUSE ME... is a series of photos and collages created in collaboration with photographer Andi Galdi Vinko. Women all over the world have been challenging norms with their body hair for decades: but now social and mass media have allowed it to reach the mainstream in a new way with many displaying their hair as a fashion statement. Is this decision misleading the objectives of feminism? In this series, titled “Excuse me…” we bring together key elements of the current topic of body hair exploring it through depictions of women in art  history.

Photographs of female statues (Eve, Thetis, Leda & Diana) from the 16th to 18th centuries are shaven symbolically by ripping the paper at the underarms, suggesting metaphorical images of gender equality.
